Why Do NBA Players Need Recording Studios?

By Brian Peoplis On June - 6 - 2009
So I just watched two episodes of Cribs back to back. Today's theme was "NBA Players," so I figured the houses they would be showing would be fairly nice, for lack of a better term. After getting the grand tour of these houses, I realized they all had one thing in common: Of the six players they showed, four of them had recording studios built into the house. I'm not sure if I missed the memo somewhere that NBA players, while being really good at basketball, are also recording engineers. LeBron James is not achieving "warm tones" in any of the recordings that he ...

Why Twitter Makes No Sense to Me

By Tim Bielik On June - 5 - 2009
These days, we live in an era where anyone can communicate to anyone very quickly. However, one Web site, twitter.com, has become the latest addition to this craze, where anyone can rant or say anything they want in 140 characters or less. Today, everyone from college coaches to ESPN anchors to newspaper reporters has a page. Well, I am making a personal decision not to use Twitter for the time being. I feel the site is just an extension of another device called the Facebook status message. I came into knowledge about Twitter from Bucks forward Charlie Villanueva's infamous halftime "tweet," which included the words ...

Six Guys Who Eat Their Wheaties

By Blake Broglio On June - 5 - 2009
The following athletes show incredible strength, skill, etc. Most of which are "freaks" of nature that don't appear human. Either way, they sure do eat their Wheaties. Not hating. Just giving respect where it's needed. Also, some may think this may be a list for PED suspects. False. You think Tiger Woods drives the ball 330 because of HGH? Didn't think so. Now, sit back, grab a bowl of readies, and read about these interesting athletes (+ a referee) that have been deemed Champions.

Michael Vick: Convicted, Served, Forgiven?

By Aaron Neely On June - 5 - 2009
I remember sitting at home in mid summer and watching sportscenter. I was watching to check out the latest NHL signings and on the ticker, the words “breaking news’ came across the line. The following words horrified me, “Kobe Bryant accused of rape.” Those may have not been the exact words; however, as we all know it is accurate. The trial went down in Denver, Colorado and just a few days ago the Lakers closed out a season against that town’s team. However, hardly any talk was given to that story. Personally, I believe that the greatest story in today’s sports ...

Belmont Stakes Preview

By Joseph Ciraco On June - 5 - 2009
When I bought the daily race form today, I really thought the Belmont Stakes was going to be a 2 horse race-between front running Charitable Man and late charging Mine That Bird.  Now that I've handicapped the race, I see a few horses that could win the final leg of the triple crown. Who wins will depend on both the condition of the track tomorrow and the early fractions. Charitable Man should be on the lead from the time the gate opens. The only other speed horse is Miner's Escape but based on previous races, he doesn't have the natural speed to ...

10 Real Sports Figures To Follow on Twitter

By Matt King On June - 4 - 2009
On Thursday, Tony LaRussa officially sued Twitter because of the fake account that was set up in his name. LaRussa claimed that the account damaged his reputation and caused him emotional distress. First of all, shame on whoever that is for trying to run Mr. LaRussa's sparkling reputation. Second of all, if you want to follow actual sports figures, look no further than here for 20 Real Sports Figures To Follow On Twitter.

T.O. Gets No Love in Buffalo

By Ryan Chapman On June - 4 - 2009
Terrell Owens is getting a lesson in small-town living the hard way. A resident of Orchard Park, NY has already voiced concern about Owens renting property on her street, causing the owner of the home to deny the star's rental request.  It seems at least one Buffalonian isn't wowed by T.O.'s presence and prefers a little peace and quiet over media hoopla. A glance at Owens' Twitter status Tuesday explained his current situation:  "sittin here trippin about residents @ 1 DEER RUN wn't rent 2 me b/c they said they dn't want any drama n their neighborhood!!"  Apparently, the locals already know ...
Evil is a cultural construct. Michael Vick is a callous thug. He was also, once, a sensitive kid. Between then and now, Vick grew up on the wrong side of Newport News, VA—which ought to give Roger Goodell reason for pause as he ponders the fate of the former Falcon. Free will means being the master of your future. Determinism, on the other hand, means being a slave to your past. I’m not suggesting that Vick’s actions weren’t heinous. Pit bulls are people too, and all violence is deplorable violence. But deplorability doesn’t necessarily imply guilt. In a league where success so often starts ...

My Favorite Arena Closes After 12 Years

By Tucker Warner On June - 3 - 2009
Tears were shed far and wide last fall as the last game was played in Yankee Stadium.  Very few tears, if any, will be shed for my favorite arena, the only local hockey rink, when it closes on Sunday. Yet it will take more of a toll on any of our lives than the House that Ruth Built ever did. This was the House that No One Built.  It changed ownership more times than a used car.  There was never a manager who lasted longer than two years.  Just about every four months, there were rumors floating around town that the rink would ...
