Why Cheating Will Never Leave Sports
On July - 29 - 2009
Throughout sports history, cheating has existed in every sport in some way, shape, or form, which has caused whatever sport it is to become damaged, sometimes permanently.
There are many different ways to cheat in sports, such as fixing games, placing bets on teams, lying about your age, and the biggest one of them all, taking performance enhancing substances.
Sports such as baseball, track and field, weightlifting, and cycling have all had major problems with performance enhancing substances in recent years. This has caused all of these sports to all face major criticism from fans and the media.

Michael Phelps’s Loss and Swimming’s Suit Problems
On July - 29 - 2009
On the cover of every newspaper I’ve seen today is a picture of Michael Phelps looking shocked and dejected after having just finished second to Germany’s Paul Biedermann in the 200-meter freestyle.
Biedermann didn’t just out-touch Phelps at the wall—he smashed Phelps’s world record by 0.96 seconds. Some may have seen Phelps's reaction to the loss (if you can call coming in second at a World Championship event a loss) as him being a sore loser. Phelps’s attempt to get away from the medal stand as quickly as possible, only to be ushered back into place by photographers, does not exactly scream ...

Athletes Are Not Role Models, But They Can Be Idols
On July - 29 - 2009
Unless you personally know a professional athlete the chances are the only time you get to see that athlete is on TV or by going to watch them live. The key point being is that you're more likely not to have a personal relationship with that professional athlete.
Yet, it seems like after every athlete arrest it doesn't matter in what sport, there's an argument that athletes are role models and need to behave better.
Fans have grown accustomed to hearing about athletes in the news doing something wrong whether it was illegal or something that wasn't really illegal, but a choice that was made that wasn't the best ...

Personal Reflections On a Year Of Writing For Bleacher Report
On July - 28 - 2009
Very rarely do I reflect on the past. As far as I am concerned, I am a person with an eye toward to future while being engaged in the present.
But the past said hello to me today. As I looked inside the Women's Professional Soccer section to read other articles on the league, I realized that I was rated as the No. 1 rated writer in the WPS Community.
I thought to myself, "No way. It couldn't be."
I had just finished writing some new articles on the reserve players on the Los Angeles Sol, as well as this week's WPS Power ...

5 Sports Terms That Annoy Me
On July - 28 - 2009
Before I begin, some clarification.
Yes, that is Pauly Shore in the picture. He annoys me.
Now, on to my five most-hated sports terms.
With Brett Favre unofficially officially saying he is un-retiring to fully retire after a half dozen other retirements were un-retired in an unofficial official interview today...I wanted to list other sports-related terms that annoy me (you can assume how annoyed I am with the whole Favre issue).
I love sports more than anything, but hearing these terms makes my skin crawl (not literally, but close).
#1. The word "system"
Example: "We really like this guy; he fits into our system well..."
No other ...
