Pete Rose Killed Mario Soto’s Career: Part II—Evidence For Naysayers
On August - 26 - 2009
Since yesterday's article, "Pete Rose Killed Mario Soto's Career," a few folks have doubted the validity of my argument. For some reason, I cannot let go of this.
It might have something to do with the fact that I am so right, and the naysayers are so wrong.
Pete Rose's gambling addiction led him to over pitch Mario Soto. By sending him out to throw on three days rest in 1985, Soto's career was cut short. He retired at age 31, after three injury plagued seasons.
First, for the people who say that what he did while as a manager of the club ...

Sen. Ted Kennedy’s Last Hurrah
On August - 26 - 2009
This article isn't entirely related to sports.
Senator Ted Kennedy (Democrat, Massachusetts), brother of President John F. Kennedy and Sen. Robert Kennedy, died this morning in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts. He was 77.
The Kennedy's have been actively involved in sports during the long and grand political careers. Kennedy's mother, Eunice Shriver Kennedy, was the founder of the Special Olympics.
Kennedy had been serving Massachusetts since November of 1962. He served nine terms as senator, making him the third-longest-serving senator in US history. As of 2009, Senator Kennedy was behind Robert Byrd (Democrat, West Virginia) as the most senior member of the Senate.
Kennedy was diagnosed with ...

Have You Ever Lost Your Grip Because of Sports?
On August - 26 - 2009
Sports make people do weird things. Or maybe some people are already weird, and sports simply serve as the outlet for their weirdness.
Have you ever done something you regret or otherwise felt odd about because of your dedication as a fan?
During the 2003 ALCS, I took an old Oakland A's Jason Giambi bobblehead doll and put a soiled (with No. 1) diaper over it in vain hope, as a Red Sox fan, of jinxing the Yankees—Giambi's team at the time.
My first child had recently been born, so I didn't have to venture far for the diaper.
Giambi wound up jacking two ...

Revitalizing the Food in Ballparks
On August - 26 - 2009
How cliché is it to go to a ballpark, and spend a few precious dollars on a “dog” in order to satisfy those developing afternoon taste-buds?
It’s a silly phenomenon that has captured the hearts of many Americans; and proceeded to destroy those hearts in the name of good health.
You see, Americans are tired of the nonchalant menu-options that ballparks possess. We are looking for heartier, more unique options than that of a kid's menu at Applebees—or other amateur dining venue.
Hell, I could look in my trash-can and find healthier options than those of an alleged "snack-bar".
So for my 50th article ...

A Message to a Lakewood Lancer’s Fall From Grace
On August - 25 - 2009
To Jerry Stone:
You may not know who I am, nor may you even care who is writing this letter to/article about you, but at least know this: in years gone by, I was a proud student of the school whose trust you betrayed by being in the wrong place at the wrong time, doing the wrong thing.
So Jerry, I ask you this question (and I hope you are reading this somewhere in juvenile hall because it's the biggest one you will be asking yourself for as long as you live):
Why?
Why would you, a running back with so much potential to progress as ...
