It was a heartless ruse, I admit - using the subtle sensuality of lady and lace to lure you into my slideshow. But since you're already here, why not explore the possibility of arousing a less erogenous, yet equally sensitive zone. The world of sport has a way of spanning the gamut of our emotions like few other areas of life. Perhaps only birth, love, and death can press beyond the limits of ecstasy and agony which sport evokes in us. We may even discover a different form of sensuality which lies hidden in our soul, far beneath skin and lace... Come, enter ...

The Curious Case of Caster Semenya

By Conant Masocha On August - 24 - 2009
There are men who look like women. Everyone knows that. Everyone.  Ask the countless boys and girls who have been so cruelly teased by their playmates for having deep, throaty voices and pretty, effeminate looks. Ask Oscar Wilde, who a little over a century ago witnessed Dorian Gray charm the pants off both ladies and men with his effeminate looks and "sensuous lips."  Or ask South African Jacob Semenya, whose daughter Caster has been been relentlessly pursued this week by the Australian and British press with the hope that the 18-year-old may actually turn out to be a man. Indeed, the scrutiny all week has been ...
A few days ago Rocky Getters wrote a rap article about his favorite Football team AC Milan, and it was such a big hit, that Rocky kept rubbing it in my face saying " See fool! I am da king of rap, but you ain't nuttin' ya sissie white boy, white boys can't rap fo real!". So to prove to Rocky and the world that white men can rap, I challenged him in a one-on-one rap of the titans. I am now on a mission to defend the honor of all the white men out there, to every white boy that ever ...

ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE AT THE FIRST BLEACHER REPORT MEETING!

By Taylor Rummel On August - 23 - 2009
Note: This article is a collaboration between the amazing Taylor Rummel and the awesome Rocky Getters. It is meant for humorous purposes only.   Worried by the scores of issues haunting b/r that had led to many a nasty, ugly debates here, Zander last night called all the Bleacher Report writers for an emergency community meeting at his headquarters in San Francisco. Not everybody could come there in such a hurry, so here is a detailed "live" report of that meeting...   While everyone is getting arranged and settling in, Bleacher Report founder Zander Freund addresses the audience:   “Howdy y’all.”   A collective “Hey” is emitted ...

Tyler Moeller: Let Us Not Forget

By Michael Periatt On August - 22 - 2009
We all know about the Tyler Moeller story. He was in intensive care after being punched by a drunk on a family vacation in Florida and then suffered a relapse a couple weeks back. Now, not only is he out for the season, but his entire career is in jeopardy. And even if he does come back, he's going to have to earn his spot all over again. I recently read an article about him always smiling and having such a good attitude. Good for him. Because it has to be tough to go through something like that. Put yourself in Tyler's shoes for a second. ...

How an Accidental TV Viewing Spurred My Research on Heisman Trends

By Damali Binta Yael On August - 22 - 2009
A three-year-old insisted on using the remote control to change channels on a television in a Chicago hotel. The entire family ended up looking at the movie, The Express, which told the life story of Ernie Davis, the first African-American to win a Heisman Trophy, in 1961. The inspiration to do research on the Heisman Trophy began at that moment. After visiting the Notre Dame campus as we drove back to Cleveland, I realized that Tim Brown, a former Oakland Raider, won the Heisman Trophy at Notre Dame. That was enough to get me going. I started researching aspects of the history of the ...
"The day I agree to sell a player one year in advance, I will not be in this job any more." Well said Mr. Wenger, after all there has to be a way to end this rubbish that comes up in Spanish media once every week. It's not just about Fabregas becoming the pawn in the next years Barcelona elections, we had seen that with Real Madrid last year when Perez promised to sign Ronaldo and kaka if he wins. "It does not help football and does not help people to focus on their job and is sometimes destabilising." ( Arsene ...

Can We Get Back To The Present, Please?

By J.C. Hagan On August - 22 - 2009
Talking with some fellow Illinois fans not that long ago, they mentioned that they were hoping the Illini basketball team could land recruits Jabari Parker, Thomas Hamilton, Jr., and Alex Foster, each of whom, one fan assured me, has a "ridiculous upside potential." I'm sure they do.  I'm also sure that a Google search shows them to be incoming high school freshman who have never played a second of high school basketball. It's by no means an isolated situation, nor a new one.  Routinely, we're finding athletes at younger ages, especially in basketball, always on the look out for the next LeBron, ...

Usain Bolt Is…Boring!

By Hentley Small On August - 21 - 2009
The Jamaican sensation, Usain Bolt, burst onto the scene about 15 months ago blazing to a 9.72-second 100-meter run and a world record. Now he’s making runs like that seem routine.   The charismatic sprinter has electrified the sports world with stunning run after stunning run. His performances and personality have made him a household name in a sport that doesn’t play well on this side of the world. But simply, everyone can understand what it means to be the fastest human to ever grace the planet.   Bolt turned 23 today, and he’s on top of the world. At the IAAF World Track ...
If nothing else, Caster Semenya has earned the respect of thousands of spectators this week. Showing amazing poise under the intense spotlight which has rightly or wrongly been glaring on her throughout the duration of these World Championships in Berlin. The newly-crowned 800m world champion has been the subject of increased speculation over her gender. After making headlines when she set a sensational time of 1:56:72 at the African Junior Championships in Mauritius. In doing so the 18-year-old had set the fastest time worldwide in the 800m this year, and prompted the International Association of Athletics Federation to demand the South African ...
