Making Sports an Intrinsic Part of Your Life in India
On March - 23 - 2010
Any discussion about the state of Olympic sport in India quickly turns into a litany of woes.
From cricket bashing, to corruption, to lamenting our attitude—khel [play] vs. study, to prepare for the future, it’s a never-ending spiral.
The big change we hanker for won’t happen until there is change at the grassroots level—until you and I make sport a part of our daily lives. Together we can make a difference in sports, and become healthier and fitter, while having fun.
Over the past year, I’ve tried to discover ways of "living" this change and sharing what works with family, friends, colleagues, and ...
Ranking NFL Stars’ Most Egregious Off-Field Incidents
On March - 23 - 2010
The NFL has seen a fair-share of their players make national headlines over the years for all of the wrong reasons. Some of the best athletes blessed with talent on the field, but sometimes find themselves involved with the wrong people or happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is currently under investigation after a 20-year-old filed sexual assault charges against him a few weeks ago. However, his story is only one of many off-field issues seen by players over the years. Here is a list of some of the most ...
Oakland Raiders’ Fabulous Females Do More Than Jumps, Splits and Dances
On March - 23 - 2010
So many folks write about the Oakland Raiders. How many have written about the Raiderettes?
Here is an article for you to peruse. It all started when I saw a video about the Raidettes who visited our military overseas.
I know the Raiderettes are agile and rhythmic enough to jump, do splits, and dance the night away. They do more than dance and smile.
They actually do community service and public relations type work as well. Did you know that?
I did a little research and read the pdf application on a website. There are some very interesting questions on the application for young ladies above ...

With a rousing rendition of the national anthem and the game ball delivered to the officials like the birth of a baby, the Louisiana Swashbucklers kicked off the 2010 SIFL season with a 88—6 trouncing of the North Texas Crunch at the Lake Charles Civic Center.
The Swashbucklers were schedule to play the Houston Lightning to begin the season, but due to problems with the Lightning’s failure to secure a venue for games, they dropped out of the SIFL for the season.
The game between two different indoor league champions ...
Dedicated To the Family Members of the Oakland Raiders
On March - 18 - 2010
Can you imagine the stress and uncertainty of being a family member of an Oakland Raider or corporate executive who is on the road very often?
Can you imagine the emotional ups and downs, while watching the media either praise or pierce the reputation of your loved ones?
How do the children feel about the articles that are published?
How do the wives or partners feel when the mate does not know if the Raider will make the team in 2010?
For a moment, let's have a heart.
Why? Because today was a day of the birth of a two pound baby named Zoe, whose ...
Oakland Raiders: Are the Copy Cats and the Humpty Dumptys Hindering?
On March - 18 - 2010
Is there politics in the rule-making in the NFL? Have some of the rules been designed to hinder the Oakland Raiders? Before you say "no", let's look at history.
Let's develop a framework for this discussion.
Framework: An example
Someone wrote me on Bleacher Report and asked what my heritage was. I answered him in a general way, but I emphasized that in America, I am simply an African-American.
Looking at the census mail today, and thinking about the question on ethnicity or race, I know that in earllier history the classifications and rules for placing someone in one category or another were purely political. ...
Anxiety in Baseball: Modern Techniques Can Ease the Burden
On March - 18 - 2010
It has forced Zack Greinke and Joey Votto off the field.
It is currently jeopardizing the careers of Dontrell Willis and Khalil Green.
Anxiety disorders can become such an overbearing burden on the gladiators we idolize that it leads them to hate the game they once loved. Professional athletes have always had to cope with being in the spotlight, but in our modern information age there is far more coverage and invasion than ever before.
Physical training is commonplace in the daily routine of finely tuned athletes, but often these young and famous millionaires lack the mental preparation necessary to be in the ...
We Are The World: 1985 Vs 2010 Head to Head
On March - 17 - 2010
I was looking around YouTube a few days ago and stumbled upon the "We are the World 25" video.
I guess this is to mark the 25th anniversary of the song, and at the same time, raise some money for the victims of Haiti.
I will admit that I am partial to the original. In fact, I don't think the 2010 remake comes close.
That said, maybe I have lost touch of what is "cool" these days. I am in my 30's after all.
So just to be fair I have decided to do a head to head match up of the soloists.
To make ...

On March - 17 - 2010
The Louisiana Swashbucklers were scheduled to take on the Houston Lightning in the season opener for both teams this coming Saturday evening at the Lake Charles Civic Center at 7:00pm.
In a press release posted on their Web site, the Houston Lightning have announced they will not play during the 2010 season and are shutting down operations:
Our season is set to open March 20, 2010, against the Louisiana Swashbucklers. After meeting with Tom Hager, President of the SIFL, on March 10, 2010 we have made the decision to not field the Houston Lightning this year. This decision is directly related to ...
Five Arguments to Avoid on St. Patrick’s Day in New York
On March - 17 - 2010
I love waking up to St. Patrick’s Day in New York City. You walk outside and the air seems fresher, filled with an Irish Spring scent. The people seem friendlier. You feel spring is right around the bend, and every bar seems like it is the greatest party you ever came across.
Drinking is the activity of the day. So while the day is filled with jubilation and celebration to start, the night usually ends in debauchery and fisticuffs. It seems you can’t avoid a good drink on St. Patrick’s Day, or a good alteration for that matter.
We celebrate the full spectrum ...
