The 2011 NFL Draft Class Could be the Biggest Bust Yet

By Glenn Card On March - 24 - 2011
Every NFL fan has either heard of, or argued about, the first round draft busts of years past. This year’s entire 2011 NFL Draft could end up being the biggest bust yet. This draft could come and go with little meaning for our NFL teams or even for the draftees. Sure, the guys that show up on draft day will get to waltz up to the podium and collect their Official NFL endorsed ball cap and get a hand shake from Roger Goodell. The dance song could very well end right there. My lack of exuberance about the upcoming draft is a sure sign that ...

5 Reasons Why Kevin Kolb Will Get Traded

By Yueh Ho On March - 23 - 2011
It seemed like just yesterday when sports writers everywhere were calling for the Eagles to part ways with Donovan McNabb for the little proven Kevin Kolb. Now, a year later, everyone has jumped on the Michael Vick bandwagon and are calling for Kolb's trade. Of course, it is obviously a different situation, as Kolb is much younger and clearly still has potential, while McNabb was an 11 year veteran in the twilight of his career. Additionally, Vick has clearly outperformed Kolb in 2010 and the question primarily is whether the Eagles should hold Kolb hostage one more season as insurance, ...

NCAA Bracket 2011: My Girlfriend Is Kicking My Butt

By Gene Siudut On March - 23 - 2011
My girlfriend doesn’t know anything about basketball. She’s generally repulsed by sports in general—but basketball, more than the others, she just isn’t into. I, on the other hand, am a basketball junkie—especially college basketball. I don’t really watch the NBA that much anymore because I don’t believe it’s a good product, but that’s another story. Throughout this basketball season I’ve been trying to stir up interest in my girlfriend to at least watch a game or show the least bit of interest in something I’m interested in, but it has all been to no avail. She just doesn’t like it. I was reserved ...

Barry Bonds and 5 Recent Shameful Sports Developments

By Dogood Silence On March - 23 - 2011
Do we live in a sports world where our past heroes are suddenly being vilified? Sure seems like it.We used to collect their sports cards, wear their jerseys and seek their autographs back in the day, but here's a short list of guys we wouldn't want to be caught in the same room with today—as well as some current phenomenons that affect us all.Begin Slideshow
Players who are under the radar often find opportunities to step their game up during these riveting, do-or- die games in the postseason. Let's be honest, all psychic powers aside, very few of us would have predicted that Martin Gelinas would score the series deciding goal in three different series during the Calgary Flames' 2004 magical Stanley Cup run, or that Fernando Pisani would be the 2006 playoff leading goal scorer. However, there are dark horses every year, and some of these players could be silently scheming their path of destruction. Here are my top 10 "Under the Radar" players who ...
Few in Boston recall the old Boston Braves who played over in an area now populated by Boston University. Not much remains of old Braves Field. Even fewer may remember the one link between the teams that lived on after the Braves left Boston for Milwaukee. It was something called the Jimmy Fund.It was a charity for children who came to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, at the time truly a unique haven. The Jimmy Fund was the Boston Braves' project after World War II.  It started in 1948 with Braves players making radio appeals to the public ...

Barry Bonds Trial: When the Jersey Comes Off, Nobody Cares

By Scott Semmler On March - 22 - 2011
Barry Bonds is in trouble. With his perjury trial underway, Bonds faces a maximum of 10 years in prison, as well as the tarnishing of his legacy. As if it wasn't already. For three years we have waited for this. The date was March 2011, and everyone in San Francisco and anyone growing up with an awareness of Bonds would remember that date. The day is finally here. Evidence is stacked up against him. The prosecution has witnesses, trainers, mistresses, everything you can hope to put one of the most bashed public figures out there away for some time. This is what the ...
For a long time I've read about wrestling from the perspective of an outsider looking in. Now I'm one of the few lucky people who get to sit behind the keyboard and write whatever they like and feel about wrestling for a site like this.A site, like many others, that perhaps gets labelled a "dirtsheet" and its users and readers labelled "smarts." I want to write a series of articles dedicated to defending the IWC, because of all the abuse it sometimes takes. Whether it be from wrestlers, outsiders looking in, other fans and even by members of the IWC itself on sites like ...
Tangled, Disney's fractured fairy tale, may be the gold standard for Rajon Rondo and the Celtics, as the star point guard has been up and down on par with the Dow in recent weeks. Be advised: General manager Danny Ainge will pull the trigger, trading Rondo in a flash this summer if they don’t win a championship this season. The evidence surrounds us more completely than a cavalry trooper looking out at Little Big Horn. If the trading of Kendrick Perkins inflamed Celtic fans, the departure of Rondo would raise a din not heard in these parts since the Shot ...
Oakland Raiders fans are the fourth worst fans in American Sports according to GQ Magazine. The article paints Raider fans as, "Hell-raisers, gangbangers, and inveterate knife-lickers all of whom firmly believe that skipping town for an away game is well worth the parole violation." Raider fans have an image problem and it could be hurting their ticket sales. Just like Raider fans have fans spread across the nation, so do other NFL teams. You'll find a lot of members of the Raider Nation when the Raiders play away games. Because of the image problem Raider fans have, it may be causing some ...
