Does Life Really Begin at Forty?

By RG Yoho On May - 27 - 2009
No doubt you have all heard the saying, “Life begins at forty.” Perhaps, like me, you have often wondered what bit of insanity inspired that statement. This is certainly not a new revelation to me, but now I have other parts of my body screaming this same, painful bit of information to me as well. The physical qualifications for this position ...

What if Michael Vick was White?

By Alex Akita On May - 27 - 2009
What would the world think of Michael Vick if the former NFL quarterback was white? Would we be as quick to blame him for his past mistakes, including most notoriously, the dog fighting ring he was found guilty of operating? Would we have labeled him a sociopath, as Seattle radio host Kevin Calabro has done? Would we be decrying his freedom, and challenging his opportunity to return to a life that might possibly include a future, once again, in the NFL? If Michael Vick was white, would we be more forgiving? If Michael Vick was white, would we withhold the name-calling, the labeling, and the ...

The Spotlight series' makes a special return to pay tribute to one of Bleacher Report's hardest-working community members. AVR is well known across several community pages and his good-natured manner is possibly why he has fans in every single corner of the Bleacher world. Abhimanyu Vinay Rajput has been a member for a little over seven months now and in that short space of time he has built up a very loyal fan base. His supporters appreciate the amount of effort AVR not only puts in to his own articles and comment threads, but also the work he does on behalf of other writers. Abhimanyu is the true essence ...

As a writer, I often feel a bit disingenuous taking credit for my stories. All too often a story that I didn't even know was inside of me seems to flow out of my very being. Readers occasionally applaud me for what I've written and I am truly humbled. I rarely see the work as a product of my talent, but more as me being the mouthpiece of a far Greater Being. Don't shoot the messenger, but don't praise him either. I am the scribe and He is the author. This story is no different.  Yesterday, I was brought to Jimmy Scott's High and Tight ...

Tee time, any time, all the time. As sweet a notion this is to legions of certified golf-a-holics craving a midnight fairway fix, in the pre-digital cable days of the mid-90s, just the idea of a 24/7 single-sport network (nevermind one solely dedicated to golf), was hard for people to get their heads around. So when The Golf Channel first landed on the dial it was no hole in one. It was more like a shanked drive that careened into the unsuspecting windshield of a beemer in the parking lot. GOLF was the first niche sports channel, the blueprint for SPEED, OLN, ...

Welcome To Forever (Chapter Four)

By Revo Boulanger On May - 26 - 2009
The rest of the story:   Chapter 1   Chapter 2 Chapter 3   It took a while, but Seth finally achieved a tenuous Internet connection from the crappy wireless system that the motel provided. He also called his secretary Melissa with a list of items he wanted looked into. She was to call him back as soon as she got results.   The more he looked into Damon Ryche’s past, the more concerned he became.   He came in the league as an unsigned free agent. A talented minor leaguer who finally put it all together after three years . His first year with the Portland Nighthawks, he was injured for ...
