Where Did Pick Of The Day Go?

By Community Matters On July - 31 - 2009
Pick of the Day is not going away. Not even close. We have gotten several emails from users asking about this very important part of Bleacher Report, and the founding team wants to make sure that people are on the same page. We will continue to recognize a great article every day as our "Pick of the Day." But we have changed the voting button to say "Like" rather than call the button the "Pick of the Day" button.   Why did we make this change? Two reasons, both of which are a positive step for the company. 1) We have listened to lots of user feedback, and ...

I tuned in today to watch the world swimming championship in Rome with only one thing in mind - to see how my countryman, Milorad Cavic from Serbia, would swim his 100m buttefly semifinal race. Little did I expect to hear my national anthem being played for a girl that, completely out of the blue, won the world champion title at 200m breaststroke today. Her name is Nadja Higl, a 22-year-old girl from Pancevo, a town that's about 30 minutes away from Serbia's capitol city, Belgrade. Back in the day when I used to practice swimming, I would see her at meets. ...
In America, sports and gluttony often go hand in hand. Super Bowl feasts, Bottomless brews as a baseball game, the two seem to be nothing short of a match made in heaven. Rare is it that the gluttony makes its way past the grandstands and onto the field. However, a select few individuals are able to perform the tasks intended for the physically fit while resembling Jabba the Hut. It is high time that we celebrate these characters.

The Concept Of Integrity: Explicitly Ignored?

By Rohini Iyer On July - 31 - 2009
Integrity, often synonymous with honesty, represents a person's capacity to stand by his righteous morals and values thereby not compromising with his conscience, especially, when the tug to perform any such immoral act dominates the keener sense of the mind and heart. In day-to-day mundane life, such scenarios keep arising and most of the time we end up falling prey to the temptation, certain situations often demanding that we harden ourselves and do what is needed at that spur of the moment; in a way that's also integrity because we are doing what is right by doing a wrong because the ...

There has been no shortage of stories about yesterday's shocking, yet not so shocking news, regarding Red Sox slugger David Ortiz and former Red Sox slugger Manny Ramirez. Many of my friends and fans reached out to me, inquiring how I felt on the subject. I'm flattered by the thought that so many of my friends think of me and the Red Sox in the same grouping of brain cells like some psychoanalytical game of free association. As a die hard and passionate fan of the Boston nine, I suppose many thought that I would defend my boy and minimize the ...

Michael Vick Deserves a Chance For Redemption!

By William Del Pilar On July - 30 - 2009
I’ll be the first to say it: I don’t care for Michael Vick and what he did. However, before you send the hate or I agree with you e-mails, please finish reading the blog. It may not be manly to say this, but I’m a passionate dog lover because they give unconditional love and humans don’t. You come home and who’s there to greet you at the door every single time without question? Not your friends, not even your spouse, it’s your dog!  Non-dog lovers don’t understand this, but I don’t fault them. No one loves animals like animal lovers. It’s ...
