Sean Conroy, a right-handed pitcher for the Pacific Association of Professional Baseball Clubs' Sonoma Stompers, made history Thursday night by becoming the first openly gay professional baseball player. According to Lisa Leff and Olga R. Rodriguez of the Associated Press, Conroy pitched a shutout, allowing three hits and striking out 11 in Sonoma's 7-0 win over the Vallejo Admirals. It also happened to be Pride Night at the ballpark.
