In the early 1990’s, you simply couldn’t talk about college basketball without mentioning Christian Laettner. A two-time national champion while starring for the Duke Blue Devils, Laettner was one of the best college players of all time. How good was he? Good enough to be selected for the original 1992 Olympic Game’s “Dream Team” which won the gold medal. He was the only college player selected for the team, and beat out many NBA stars for that spot.

Laettner was selected third overall in the 1992 draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves, right behind Shaquille O’Neal and Alonzo Mourning. In his rookie season, he was selected for the All-Rookie First Team while averaging 18.2 points and 8.7 rebounds. He finished his career thirteen seasons later as a member of the Miami Heat in 2004-05 with career averages of 12.8 points per game and 6.7 rebounds per game.
