Evgeni Plushenko Becomes Face Of Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics

Evgeni Plushenko, Russia's Olympic gold and silver medalist and three-time World Champion became one of the faces of the Sochi 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games on Saturday.

Plushenko, who won Olympic gold in Torino 2006 and silver at both Salt Lake City 2002 and Vancouver 2010, accepted the honor of becoming a Sochi 2014 Ambassador from Dmitry Chernyshenko, President and CEO of the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee, at a ceremony inside the iconic Sochi World in Vancouver.

He stated at the ceremony,  “I would like to compete. I would like to skate in 2014 in Sochi. I'm gonna try. I'm really gonna try.”

Chernyshenko added “Evgeni Plushenko is an icon for millions of people. His will to succeed and dedication is a real example for young athletes hoping to follow in his footsteps. Some of those stars of the future will represent Russia at Sochi 2014. We are proud that he has joined us. Evgeni adds a lot to our team and we are stronger for it.”
