Twitter has become an essential tool for writers in today's world of sports. Mainstream sports outlets took notice of social media's increasing importance, thanks in part to Ocho Cinco's need for attention and Craig James' son getting locked in a closet. Since then, college football writers have embraced social media with open arms. Today's media allows athletes to almost cut out the middleman, so reports and journalists have to adapt.
