Bleacher Report Inspired a New Lifestyle, a New Love

By Damali Binta Yael On September - 19 - 2009

Something has got a hold of me. I went to a sports store and bought workout clothes. I even purchased a fitness band.

A display for fishing license was near the checkout area. I asked the man sitting at the display, "How much are fishing license?" He said a price for a day, and a price for a season or year. Hum, I thought, "I just might start going fishing, again."

Then, while resting at my 86-year-young mother's home, a sister who loves to support her three boys in their sports adventures, asked to speak to me on the telephone.

My younger sister said, "I have tickets to a football game tonight. Would you like to go." Everyone in the house was surprised because I answered, "Yes, of course."

Then, I thought, "Did I actually do that!" I have not been to a high school football game in Galena Park, TX since 1961, when I was the runner-up homecoming queen.

Patti LaBelle said it so well, "I've got a new attitude."

I really do have a new attitude since I joined the Bleacher Report. You see, I had been leading a rather reticent lifestyle, teaching, some traveling, reading and writing, but seldom socializing at sports activities at all levels.
