Maybe itâ€™s not considered politically correct for a southern white guy to bring up plantations and slavery, as it was indeed the darkest period in this countryâ€™s history, but if you think about it, thatâ€™s exactly the right way to describe how the NCAA and BCS system determines its college football champion.
The BCS is designed to promote the rich (traditional football power conferences) and keep the poor man (mid-major conferences) down.Â There really is no other way to look at it, and this year is the perfect example.
This may be a year the BCS gets it right (in terms of a champion), but only because Nick Saban and his Alabama Crimson Tide are going to see to it.
