Italy vs. USA: U.S. Shocks World, Downs Italy 1-0

By Chris Elliott On February - 29 - 2012
OK, maybe a bit of hyperbole here considering that this was a friendly, but to us in the States, the United States beating Italy in an International Friendly was a major milestone. The rest of the world may look on this as either Italy tripping up and underestimating their opponent or sheer luck by the United States Yanks. But to us Sam's Army's true, die-hard supporters, this shows us what we have been hoping, wanting and praying for; that Jürgen Klinsmann, the amazing former German striker, can fix this squad. The game was an eye opener. I was amazed at the end of ...
With the San Antonio Spurs winning 12 of their last 13 games heading into the All-Star break, the Chicago Bulls will be heading into a raucous environment against a red-hot team.  Luckily for the Bulls, the injury bug has struck the Spurs in recent weeks, so they will be facing a thin group of players. Still, it’s a Popovich-run team, so it won’t be easy.  Where: AT&T Center, San Antonio, TX When: Wednesday, February 29, 9:00 p.m. ET Watch: ESPN and ESPN 3 Live Stream: NBA League Pass Listen: ESPN Radio   Betting Line: Covers Over/Under: 190.5, Spread: San Antonio -2.5 With ...

12 Biggest Knuckleheads in the NFL

By Jesse Reed On February - 29 - 2012
In honor of Leroy Hill and his latest marijuana-related arrest (not his first), I thought I'd put together a list of the biggest knuckleheads in the NFL.Professional football, like any other profession, is full of responsible adults who keep their noses clean and pressed firmly to the grindstone. Unfortunately, there will always be some people that seem incapable of practicing discretion and common sense: the knuckleheads.Begin Slideshow
I hate Hollywood.I hate the phoniness, the plastic appearances of the stars, due to the endless layers of makeup and botox treatments.  I hate the overly-inflated sense of self-worth that many actors possess, an arrogant attitude that carries with it the need to impose their own political and religious beliefs upon anyone dumb enough to waste their time listening to them.  Most of all, I hate the way that people hinge on everything the Hollywood elite do and say, absorbing every bit of celebrity gossip they can, as if it brings true meaning to their own lives.Man, this one’s really ...
It's a struggle more and more parents are dealing with every year: Should I let my child play football?I know it may seem a bit soon, but early sign-ups are just around the corner, and many teams (my son's included) are running winter team workouts as we speak.Once upon a time the answer was simple. If your son (or in some cases these days, daughter) wanted to play football, then gear up, pop in a mouthpiece and off they go.No more. We're busier now than ever before and time is hard to come by. Children have a ton of schoolwork to ...
I've thought long and hard about sharing this story, and now I know it's time. I hope in sharing something so personal, I can help other people. Here we go.My confession is that every fall, my husband has an affair. It's hard—really hard—and I never get used to it. But when you love someone, you learn to work through all kinds of challenges. For whatever reason, these are just the cards I was dealt. But let's be clear on one thing: It's not another woman he strays to.Are you kidding? I'd never put up with that. No, it's fantasy ...
Oscars and sports, two worlds that don't really sync. One has a red carpet, Gucci dresses, stuffy speeches. The other is dirty and sweaty. Take away the money factor between top pros and A-list actors, and the parallels dissolve into a haze. Not in 2012, though. Moneyball garnered multiple nominations, and the documentary Undefeated took home the Academy Award in its category. On the surface, it's about high school football, but this LA Times synopsis shows why the movie is worthy of a statue. The film by directors Daniel Lindsay and T.J. Martin follows an inner-city football team struggling to survive high ...

These two sides meet in this Week 25 clash with both desperately needing the three points that are on offer. For Everton, it's a chance to continue to prove themselves against the Premier League's best and an opportunity to jump back into the top half of the ladder.Chelsea will see this game as a must-win game if they are to continue to stay in the hunt for Champions League success—especially with the likes of Tottenham, Newcastle, Liverpool and Arsenal all in tough matches this week.So with the three points on the line and both sides definitely confident at taking them ...
Earlier this week, Burke High School (Nebraska) hosted a late-season basketball game against the visiting Columbus Discoverers. In lieu of their usual home white uniforms, the Burke Bulldogs donned pink jerseys in a charitable effort: Assistant coach Tom Law purchased the pink uniforms specifically for that game to be auctioned off afterward, with proceeds benefiting the Make-A-Wish foundation.Burke Athletic Director Kyle Rohrig signed off on the idea, and all seemed fine until halftime, when the Bulldogs took a one point lead into the locker room. That's when Columbus head coach Dave Licari spoke with the officials and asked if the pink uniforms ...
Dennis "Oil Can" Boyd has a book coming out in which he admits to using cocaine throughout his baseball career. Boyd admitted in an interview with WBZ-Radio that he played under the influence of cocaine two-thirds of the time he was on the mound. According to Boyd, it wasn't just him (via Boston.com). “I feel like my career was cut short for a lot of reasons, but I wasn’t doing anything that hundreds of ballplayers weren’t doing at the time; because that’s how I learned it," he said.Boyd's career spanned the decade of the 1980s when cocaine was the worst-kept ...
