Top Five Social Media Rules Athletes Need To Know

By Angela Davis On December - 6 - 2010
Athletes today are more like celebrities. Gone are the days when they just stayed on the field, court, track, etc., played the game and then went home. Back then, our only connection or inside look into their lives was a feature piece in a magazine or a Barbara Walters Special. Now we have social media, and not only do we know what they’re doing at all times, but we know what they think, how they feel and what they’ll do next–and that’s not always a good thing. Social media has definitely changed the landscape of the world. It has allowed millions ...

WE, however, continue to hold athletes in high esteem—making putting a ball in a hole synonymous with deity. WE watch all the shows, tell our kids they're role models, and WE expect ...
For months since Tiger Woods was exposed as a cheap womanizer, a cheater, a liar, and a cornball (what guy uses the word 'naughty'), I thought about professional athletes and the drama that always seems to surround them. The Tiger Woods scandal is really no different than any other athlete who's sheltered from real-world consequences and accountability. No one can argue that what a person constantly hears becomes their reality. So if all you hear is, "you're the greatest", "you're the best", "you're untouchable" and people act like it, then you start to believe it. We have made a person's ...
